South Park has been off the air for nearly a year, now that Matt Stone and Trey Parker have decided to move the show to a 10-episode fall run, rather than the seven in the spring/seven in the fall schedule they'd been on. That being the case, more than ever, a question fans have is what the show's target will be when it returns. South Park is known for its topical, sometimes controversial subject matters and with so much time between seasons, Matt and Trey certainly have a lot to choose from when the show returns on Wednesday night.

The South Park: Season 16 premiere episode, "Let Go, Let Gov."

As it turns out, the first topic to get the South Park treatment this season will be PRISM. Yes, the season premiere involves Cartman managing to get inside the NSA, where he discovers they've been secretly monitoring all of his personal information. And of course, this gets Cartman planning to blow the lid off the whole thing. You can check out a clip from the premiere below... complete with some NSFW language.

We're told a subplot involves Butter finding "someone new to listen to his prayers." Given how crazy South Park can get, it's hard not to wonder if perhaps the PRISM setup will lead into a completely different direction, as the show is known to sometimes do. We'll find out on Wednesday, September 25th at 10pm on Comedy Central, when South Park: Season 17 begins.
