GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — A federal judge has sentenced seven East Tennessee residents for conspiring to make methamphetamine.
The U.S. attorney's office in Greeneville says law enforcement agents found meth labs, or meth-making equipment and residue, at four sites in Johnson City in January and February. One of the sites was a room at the Fox Motel.
The conspiracy was active when the indictment was returned in March.
The seven conspirators were sentenced to prison terms ranging from three years and one month to 16 years and eight months. Those sentenced are from Johnson City, Jonesborough, Elizabethton, Gray and Watauga.
U.S. Attorney William C. Killian said Tennessee continues to have one of the highest rates of meth addiction in the United States and his office will continue to devote resources to meth-related prosecutions.
